Visual Communication and Drawing Things

I may not have the most advanced artistic skills, but there’s something truly special about the power of visual communication.

Whether it’s a pipeline, technical architecture, cloud model or even just an idea, the ability to convey and communicate a concept or approach, especially to make it more inclusive and reduce the technical barrier to understanding makes it such a great skill. Overall we can think of a few reasons why it is great:

1. The brain processes visuals 60,000x faster than text, making complex ideas easier to grasp at a glance.
2. People remember up to 80% of what they see, compared to just 20% of what they read (apparently).
3. Visuals often transcend language, helping communicate ideas across diverse teams and audiences.
4. Diagrams, icons, and visuals simplify dense information, making it more digestible.
5. Charts, graphs, and maps make it easier to see connections, trends, or hierarchies.
6. Visual elements help create narratives that are easier to follow and emotionally resonant.
